Vietnamese farmers use smartphones to monitor water levels in rice fields
The Mekong Delta is a major rice-growing region in Vietnam, but it is facing increasing water scarcity due to climate change, seawater intrusion and upstream dams.
The Vietnamese government is calling on farmers to use more sustainable irrigation methods, and by 2030 it plans to limit access to freshwater via the canals traditionally used by farmers.
A project called the Mekong Delta Smart Irrigation Project is using high-tech sensors and water pumps to help farmers reduce their water consumption.
